Local Readers + Aspiring Writers (GROWN-UPS 21+) - Join us in-person at our *NEW* New Book Joy Booktique in Brookfield for our very first Journaling Club inspired by The Book of Alchemy by Suleika Jaouad. This writing-forward experience will be led by Carisa Deegan, a Brookfield-based journaler and Creative Strategist who loves creating calm, reflective spaces for connection and self-expression. You'll be guided through several journaling prompts, spend extended time writing quietly together, and have *optional* moments to share reflections. There's no pressure to share and no expectation to be a "writer." Suleika describes a journaling club as "a gathering that's equal parts tender and mischievious... to write together. To share - or not share. To surprise yourself."
We ask that you bring your own notebook (or PRE-ORDER THE OFFICIAL ALCHEMY JOURNAL - PICTURED ABOVE - BY CLICKING THE CHECKBOX BENEATH THE DROPDOWN MENU ON THE SIGN-UP PAGE!) along with a writing utensil of your choice (writing surfaces may be limited, so please be prepared to journal on your lap if we have a full house!), and come as you are... We'll meet at our bookstore, then embark on an hour-long quiet "reading" listening time adventure together while taking a walk to (and through!) Kiwanis Park from 4-5 PM.* All attendees will enjoy their audiobooks of choice on their own portable devices, and though all audiobook platforms are permitted for the listening portion of our event, we encourage downloading the Libro.FM app (and selecting New Book Joy as your local bookstore) before the event so you're ready to receive your FREE AUDIOBOOK CREDIT.
IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, WE WILL MOVE OUR AUDIOBOOK LISTENING PARTY INSIDE OUR BOOKTIQUE! In this scenario, feel free to bring coloring books, journals / sketchbooks, knitting needles / hand sewing projects, or any other quiet activities to enjoy while listening inside too.
